The Youth Housing Service provides affordable rental accommodation for young people who are 15 - 25 years old. The service is for young people who are severe housing
need, have a low income, are able to live independently (people who have their support needs met by another agency can be housed) and are registered on the Public
Housing waiting list with the Department of Housing. An income statement also needs to be supplied at time of applying. PLEASE NOTE: The Public Housing system
including the application and referral processes for all Queensland Government funded housing agencies is currently being reviewed. At this point in time it is unknow
what the new application process is going to look like. Any changes are not likely to take place before 1 August 2006.
Iona House Young Women's Shelter - 4779 9911
Hours 24 hours, 365 days a year
Iona House offers crisis accommodation for young women aged 16 - 21 years who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Young women are taught independent living
skills, assistance is provided with Centrelink benefits, health, education/employment and access to other support services. Young women are encouraged to contribute
towards board which is 25% of their total income. Young women are required to leave Iona House by 8am and 1pm Monday to Friday during the school term as it is expected
that young women are either attending school, further education, working or actively looking for employment.

The TAIHS Youth Shelter provides crisis accommodation to young people, both indigenous and non-indigenous, females and males aged 15-17 years old. Residents can access
the shelter between 4pm and 8.30am each day on both weekdays and weekends.

Sharehouse aims to provide a holistic service that enables each individual to make informed choices about issues in their life. The services available are
accommodation, support, information, resources, referral and advocacy for young people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Priority is given for those
aged 15 - 21 years. The referral process is through either self-referral or through other community agencies. Residents are required to depart Sharehouse at 9am each
weekday, weekend access is 24 hours.
