A group of young people aged from 12 - 24 that meets regularly to advocate on behalf of the Thuringowa youth community through identifying and discussing youth
issues and possible solutions. Operates primarily as an advisory group in communicating youth issues to Council and Council staff. Also has the opportunity to
participate in planning and implementing youth programs within the Thuringowa community. This group meets fortnightly on a Thursday night between 5.30pm - 6.30pm.
Young people wanting to be a part of the Thuringowa Youth Council need to work, live, be educated or have an interest in Thuringowa.

The anti-violence committee aims to combat hate-related violence against gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people living within the Townsville - Thuringowa
region by conducting public awareness campaigns, providing education, and holding monthly meetings with wide community representation (phone for meeting details).
Support is provided for survivors of hate-related crime through advocacy and referral.

The Community Information Centre (CIC) provides community information and can refer young people to the services they need. Drop in to the centre to see the
extensive amount of information they have, give them a call or check out their website. The CIC publishes a Recreation Directory with listings of sporting clubs,
hobby and cultural groups suitable for young people. They also produce a Community Resource Directory with sections devoted to services for families and young
people. The 'Up To Ten' free magazine is published every four months for parents of children aged to ten years. An Arts E-Bulletin is distributed monthly with
information on workshops, exhibitions, competitions and theatre for young people. An Events Calendar is also produced with what's on in Townsville &
Thuringowa.

Caseys YouthLinx Program works with young people aged 11 - 16 years and their families (individually and as a family unit). Caseys provides structure support and
supervised self development workshops and parenting programs to strengthen the abilities of young people and their families, building upon their skills, resources
and provision of skilled practical assistance.
Youth & Community Combined Action Group (YACCA) works with young people aged 10 - 17 years who are at risk of entering the Juvenile Justice System. YACCA
provides a range of innovative, structured and supervised activities that aims to address challenging offending behaviours and connects young people with their
community and families.
Townsville/Thuringowa Integrated Youth Program (TTYP) - TTIYP works with a wide variety of community and government groups and young people aged 10 - 17 years who
are at risk of becoming involved or further involved in the Juvenile Justice System, with specific attention to young people involved in volatile substance misuse
(VSM) to plan and deliver youth crime prevention programs and encourage young people to participate positively in their community.
Youth Drama & Self Development Project is for young people aged 10 - 14 years in Townsville/Thuringowa. The project provides young people with opportunities
in self and creative expression and building upon confidence, personal skills and knowledge in all aspects of theatrical creation. Coordinated by Lifeline youth
works and facilitated by La Luna Youth Arts, young people will design a performance which communicates a message important to young people in North Queensland. Runs
during Terms 3 & 4 each year.
